A commune with more than 3 000 inhabitants, it is appreciated for its residential aspect. Two thirds of its space is spent on agricultural activities, or preserved in natural areas, including the magnificent valley of Aveyron. Its economy makes it an important pole of service jobs - two hospitals - commercial or industrial - precision mechanics. The new village built around the square and castle of the De Rodat family, built in 1580. This family has marked the economy and local politics for many centuries. The name of De Rodat evokes politicians, but also figures of religious history such as Emilie de Rodat - buried in Villefranche-de-Rouergue, founder of the Holy Family, and whose house is located in the neighbouring village of Druelle - or even in the artistic environment such as Toulouse-Lautrec, from that family.
