Nestled between the Landes de Gascogne National Park, the communes of the Grands Lacs and the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, the small commune of Ychoux offers the charm of the Landes hinterland. With its many footpaths and cycle paths, its arboretum and its famous Etang des Forges, a favourite with anglers, it has all the ingredients for an enjoyable "nature break". Also worth a visit is Notre-Dame church, founded in 1160 by the Knights of Malta. Although the church was largely rebuilt in 1872, a few vestiges of the original edifice remain.
