Nestled in the valley of the Ady, in an environment of hills, Clairvaux is a charming village. In the summertime, a luxuriant flowering with an unforgettable cachet decorates the streets and balconies. The traces of an eventful past are undeniable: enclosure, fortified gates, old houses... The Romanesque church of 1160, of which a part and the bell tower were rebuilt in the 18th century, shelters a beautiful altarpiece and an 18th century tombstone. The old enclosure is still marked by a fortified tower gate with machicolation. It has, like the other old buildings, the original aspect of these constructions in red sandstone of the Permian.
