Balaguier-d'Olt is a small picturesque village lost on a hillock, in the middle of greenery and rocks. Located on the banks of the Lot, this village has always exploited the richness of the river, going from simple fishing to the use of the driving force and to navigation. Balaguier lived to the rhythm of the "gabarres", the boats that transported wine and hemp to Bordeaux. Of course, with the development of this commercial traffic, it was necessary to control the passage, which is why a castle was built. Of this fortress, there is almost nothing left! One will take pleasure in strolling through the sloping streets to admire the beautiful medieval houses.
