Three-level rock church with an archaeological bar-museum at the foot of the building

Carved out of a block of rock, this rock church is a jewel from which it emanates a very special atmosphere. Inside you can admire superb Romanesque frescoes of Catalan origin. These date from the 12th century and have similarities with those of neighbouring Spanish Catalonia. Three periods in the life of Jesus are illustrated. The construction of this church in three levels makes it original. An archaeological bar-museum is located at the foot of the building which will prolong the time of discovery.

Encore une destination découverte au hasard d'une randonnée en Ariège. Ce site est extraordinaire, car cette église préromane à trois niveaux, construits à des siècles différents est littéralement enfoncée dans le rocher. A voir, la chapelle, la tour donjon et les fresques dans la nef.
