The memorial of François Mitterrand in Soustons, presents a bronze sculpture, 2.20 m high and its faithful companion
President of the Republic from 1981 to 1995, François Mitterrand (1916-1996) lived in Soustons in his sheepfold at Latche for thirty-one years. Many heads of state and government came to see him in this residence. Close to the tourist office, the Memorial was inaugurated on 21 May 1996 by his wife, Danielle Mitterrand. You will see there a bronze sculpture of 2,20 meters high realized by Jacques Raoult in the foundry of Art "Denis" of Rezé-lès-Nantes. François Mitterrand is represented with his faithful companion.

Si vous passez par Soustons, petite ville calme des Landes, près d'un lac où j'ai pu admirer de beaux couchers de soleils d'automne, ne manquez pas d'aller voir la statue plus vraie que nature de F. Mitterrand avec son labrador, située près de l'Office du Tourisme. On a vraiment l'impression qu'il est là, se promenant avec son chien tel qu'on a pu le voir dans des documentaires, et tout près des bancs où des seniors devisent.....peut-être sur la politique à l'époque du célèbre citoyen de Latché, commune de Souston
