" The castle of Lordat is so great that it cannot ruin ", thus affirmed Sieur d'Audou, governor of the county, King of France Henry IV. Perched on a rocky outcrop, dominating the Vallée valley of nearly 300 m, he had what to discourage the attackers by his position and dimensions. It was one of the largest in the county of Foix. In its current state, despite the ravages of time, the castle of Lordat remains proud with its towers and its high walls. Classified by Historical Monuments, it remains a remarkable specimen of the military architecture of the Middle Ages in the Ariégeoises Pyrenees. At present you will discover various animations, guided tours around the catharism, a handicraft market, and a theme on geology.
