Situated between the Arize massif and the Plantaurel, this bastide was founded in 1254 by Count Roger IV of Foix. Among the remains and monuments, one cannot avoid the hall and its three stone steps, the 15th century church which houses two superb wooden sculptures including the rare example of a nursing Virgin, the ruins of the castle demolished in the 17th century and the Wolf Tower. But La Bastide-de-Sérou is today a very dynamic town where it is as good to live there as it is to come as a tourist. Its assets are numerous: fishing, swimming, mountain biking, paragliding, golf, and tastings of mountain cheeses, honeys and jams.
