Situated on the banks of the Adour river, 20 minutes from the beaches of the Landes coast and Dax, Saubusse is a small village full of character. Its destiny is linked to water, with the Adour running through it, the Barthes and its thermal springs. In the 18th century, Saubusse was an important stopping-off point on the route of the gabares, which sailed down the Adour loaded with wood and hams from the Pyrenees, or upstream from Bayonne to bring sugar, chocolate and other treasures to the inhabitants of the high country. Nestling in the heart of the Landes de Gascogne forest, the village offers the possibility of spa treatments in the fields, as the calm of nature provides relaxation and absolute rest.
