Sanguinet is the first Landes stage on the route to Santiago de Compostela via the Soulac or "Voie Littorale". Popular with tourists, the Lac de Cazaux-Sanguinet (Lac Nord) covers astonishing fields of ruins. Since late 1970, divers have been discovering the remains of Losa (a Gallo-Roman hamlet built near the bridge over the Gourgue river). In addition to its 5,600-hectare lake and pine forest, Sanguinet offers the promise of pleasant walks and bathing. Today, Sanguinet is a service and tourism-oriented town. A night market is held in July and August from 8pm.
