A certain mystery reigns in Darney and its forest filled with curious Celtic sites. A forest steeped in history which, as early as the 1st millennium, served as a border between the Leuc tribe and the Sekan people. Today, there are still vestiges of the divinatory cult: south of the small town of Escles, a place is called the Druidic Valley. The Romans then introduced Christianity. Overlooking the Saône valley, Darney is famous for its cutlery factory, its Franco-Czechoslovakian museum (housing the declaration of independence of the former state), its former convent and its beautiful houses. It is also a hiker's paradise.
