On the outskirts of Luxembourg, the town of Yussoise has been strategically located since ancient times, on the alluvial side (right bank) of the bend of the Moselle, which makes its great turn towards the Rhine at this point. The town is surrounded by several hills: the Selvert (207 m), the côte des Roses (or côte d'Illange, 219 m), Kollom (194 m) and the Galienberg. Yutz is an integral part of the urban area of Thionville. The Second World War and the tragedy of the annexation will leave its mark for a long time. The commune of Yutz was not spared by the fighting led by the3rd American army before being liberated on 13 September 1944.
