A town of around 3,700 inhabitants, at the crossroads of Chalosse, the Basque country and Béarn, and less than an hour from Spain, Peyrehorade dominates the right bank of the Gaves, Oloron and Pau. Peyrehorade is home to salmon, kiwi and local produce. Since 1358, Peyrehorade's traditional weekly market on Wednesday mornings has been a highlight. The town's historic heritage can be explored on an hour-long walking tour offered by the tourist office, along with other circuits in the Pays d'Orthe. Be sure to take a look at the Château d'Orthe, where Peyrerohade's town hall is located.
