This pretty village owes its name to the remarkable Roman aqueduct, which stands proudly among the houses of the village (1,500 inhabitants). These remains are the best preserved part of the aqueduct built by the Romans in the 2nd century, 22 km long, which supplied Metz with water from Gorze. A few steps towards the coast, along the arches, allows you to discover a reception basin cleared in 1860, which connected the underground part from Gorze to the aerial part (indications on the spot). Very nice hikes or bike rides are available as a starting point. Jouy-aux-Arches is also a commercial area.
