The bell tower-porch of the former Sainte-Marie church is just a few metres from the museum. The visit of the complex allows to discover a museographic space on the history of the territory, a virtual presentation of the priory and a visit of the bell tower-porch. This is the last vestige of an important Benedictine priory of the 12th century. Classified as a historical monument, it has preserved its polychromy and has one of the oldest French representations of St-Jacques-de-Compostelle.

De passage à Mimizan j'ai pu visiter le musée et le clocher porche , seul vestige d'un ancien prieuré bénédictin. La visite débute par un très intéressant film permettent de bien comprendre l'importance de ce prieuré et comment il n'en reste plus que le clocher porche. Puis vient la magnifique découverte guidée des sculptures polychromes du porche : une merveille ! comme nous étions seulement 2 visiteurs nous avons pu prendre tout notre temps pour les admirer. Un vrai régal!
