On the way to the Romans: the Camin Romiou was signposted in 1289 in Messanges; hostelry of the Order of Malta for pilgrims to Santiago de Compostela. Its church of Saint-Clement dates from 1630; the pond of Moisan, south of Messanges, is the vestige of the active port before the diversion of the Adour. Its name would come from the name of the ship that ran aground when the waters receded when the new mouth of the Adour was established. Passing in front of two ponds, the GR8 can be travelled on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. Two pedestrian circuits have been developed. Messanges benefits from 5 km of beaches from where the semaphore of the French Navy rises on the northern beach.
