Situated on the banks of the Petite Leyre river, this mainly forested and agricultural village has a population of 650. In the Middle Ages, it was one of the strongholds of the Albret family. The village boasts fine 18th-century houses and sheepfolds. One of these, dating from 1772, is particularly noteworthy. Towards the middle of the 19th century, Luxey was renowned for its trade in grain, honey, wool and hides, and for its numerous markets.Every year in mid-August, the Festival Musicalarue brings a musical enchantment to this friendly little place, where you can celebrate in a whole new way. Artists from all walks of life come together on the open-air stage.
