The Landes department, a land of sporting passion and fervor, has its own sanctuaries. Some travellers may already have stopped to light a candle at Notre-Dame-des-Cyclistes in Labastide-d'Armagnac or Notre-Dame-de-la-Course-Landaise in Bascons. But to complete the circle and honor the saints of planet oval, you'll have to come all the way to Larrivière-Saint-Savin, under the light of the evocative stained-glass windows of the Notre-Dame-du-Rugby chapel. Built in the 13th century, the chapel didn't take on its current name until 1964, in tribute to 3 US Dax rugby players who died in a car accident the previous year (Jean Othats, Emile Carrère and Raymond Albaladéjo).
