Étain, population 3,500, is an unassuming little town. Long known as home to France's last remaining factory for bathers and dolls, the Petitcollin factory closed its doors in March 2023. Completely destroyed in 14-18 and rebuilt over the years, Étain once again suffered the horrors of war, in 1939-1945. The town hall, inaugurated in 1926 and listed as a historic monument in 2002, stands proudly on the Grand-Place. The cultural and tourist center organizes tours. There is a choice of mountain bike trails, hiking trails, horse riding and fishing at the Etang du Perroi (card required).
