If you don't feel like you're in a river town when you're in the center of the village, Hinx did prosper thanks to its port on the Adour, which flows a little further north. Crops and barrels of wine were loaded onto barges bound for Dax, Saint-Sever and Bayonne. The Château de Castéra, now a listed historic monument, is a prime example of the village's rich heritage. The château dates back to the 13th century, but its current appearance is mainly Belle Epoque since its renovation in 1906.
