This charming little town was created in 1318 at the end of a trimming contract between the local lord and the representative of the King of England, Edward II. Of Genoese origin, he named the town Genoa, then Geaune. This bastide is remarkable for the perfection of its plan: 25 islets, almost square, and the square in its centre. The plan does not neglect either the arcades of the square or the church of Languedoc Gothic style (1452). The walls were destroyed in the 15th century and an Augustinian convent was built in the same period. From here, you can discover the vineyards and the heritage of Tursan. To see: the small medieval garden behind the Augustins tower.
