A remarkable manuscript by the quality of its illuminations bound in leather and which weighs 23 kilos in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche
This manuscript, remarkable for the quality of its illumination, was probably produced in the early 12th century for the chapter of canons of the collegiate church of Saint-Yrieix. Bound in leather, it weighs 23 kilos and contains 376 large parchment leaves decorated with decorative letters, foliage, interlacing, fantastic animals and other illustrations. The work contains the Old and New Testaments. The author could be an illuminator, Pierre del Casta, famous at that time. A rare work and a jewel for Saint-Yrieix!
