(Saint-Sylvester) The origin of the order of Grandmont is due to Saint Etienne, who settled in Wall (Ambazac) to live as a hermit. On his death, the community that gathered around him moved to Grandmont, now charming village nestled in the Monts mountains 2,5 km from the village of Saint-Sylvester and had a huge influence. Protected by the Plantagenet, among others, it accumulated a treasure of considerable wealth. After the Renaissance, the Order slowly declined and was finally dissolved by the king in 1769. His treasure was distributed to the churches of the Diocese in 1790. Today the abbey no longer exists, only a small chapel, erected in 1825, still bears witness to the history of this religious order. They are stones of the ancient abbey that have been reused for its construction and note its sculpted capitals as well as two stone statuettes from the end of the th century, a representative of Saint Marguerite, the other Saint Michel and a Virgin of Pity.
