Biscarrosse lies between Lac de Cazaux-Sanguinet and Lac de Parentis-Biscarrosse and is divided into three parts: Biscarrosse-Ville, Biscarrosse-Plage and Biscarrosse-Lac. Significant sublacustrine discoveries shed light on the region's history. It was at the beginning of the 19th century that the dunes were fixed by pine trees, and it was also at this time that the resort of Biscarrosse-Plage began to be built. Biscarrosse-Plage is currently the third-largest town in the Landes region, with a population of almost 15,000, and the largest in terms of surface area, covering more than 19,000 hectares (almost twice the size of Paris). Biscarrosse-Plage's multi-faceted landscape is a triptych of ocean, lake and forest.
