Departmental museum on a rocky promontory, with Renaissance-style architecture and elegant facades
Standing on a rocky promontory, the château reflects the power of its builders, the Viscounts of Rochechouart. Since 1985, it has housed the departmental museum of contemporary art. Its collection, built around major artistic movements, focuses on three main themes: history, landscape and the imaginary. Each year, the museum presents thematic or monographic exhibitions. A children's booklet is available for 6-12 year-olds.

Beau chateau sur son promontoir. La visite interieure est un plus. Les jolies colonnes torsadees et ses perspectives variées sont un bonheur pour les photographes. A faire avec une balade en ville.
Beautiful castle especially seen from the road Nontron.
