THE CHURCH OF SAINT JULIEN DE BRIOUDE
The name of Montrol comes from the Latin monasteriolum meaning "small monastery" or "little church". It would therefore be a pity if we did not pay attention to this beautiful, small, religious building in the middle of the village. The church is characterized by a refined decoration and architecture. Founded at merovingian time, it is dedicated to a surviving Roman soldier in the early th century. The steeple at the end of the 16 th century is the oldest element, the corniche presents a series of sculpted modillons. The-flat flat nave with two side chapels is topped with an lambris arch. Roof cover is in tiles, with soft slopes. The th century altarpiece, a major work of the site, has been the object of a restoration program for almost two years.
