Surrounded by public and private buildings from the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, the Place du Présidial was the centre of the administrative and judicial life of the city under the Ancien Régime. Today, the Présidial houses luxury apartments. It was rebuilt in 1774 in neoclassical style. The former Maledent Hotel, all in stone, Renaissance style, now houses the regional directorate of Cultural Affairs
