In the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park, the small commune of Cussac is best known for its good fountains (or devotional fountains), a testimony to the region's popular beliefs. There's also the Saint-Pierre-ès-Liens church and the underground passages beneath the church square, the Brégère mill and the Château de Cromières, now a private property that can't be visited and was built between the 13th and 17th centuries. The commune has a population of just over 1,200, who call themselves Cussacois. The town is said to have taken its name from the oak tree, as the area was once heavily forested.
