Belhade (which is called Vath Lada in Occitan) is a small commune in the Landes department, located a short distance from the Gironde. It belongs to the regional natural park of Landes de Gascogne and has about 200 inhabitants. It is worth a visit for three of its monuments: the castle of Rochefort-Lavie, the church of Saint-Vincent-de-Xaintes (named after the first bishop of Dax - who also has a church named after him in Dax) and finally, not far from the church, the fountain of Sainte-Anne, to which legends have long attributed lactogenic properties. It is one of the miraculous fountains of the region with healing powers.
