Aixe, called "Aixe la Jolie" by President Poincaré during his visit in 1912, is located in a pleasant site and is watered by the Vienne and four streams: the Aurence, the Aixette, the Alma and the Grand Rieu. On one side, it has sloping gardens and terraced terraces, and on the other, the Bourg-Neuf district, grouped around the few remains of the fortress of the viscounts of Limoges, known as Jeanne d'Albret castle, with the Imerys Tableware (formerly KPCL) ceramic bodies factory, one of the largest in Europe, at its foot.Strolling through the streets, you will discover beautiful old houses, especially rue Rochefroide (which was the rue des Dentellières), small oratories, statues in niches, the bandstand at the fairgrounds. In the Parc des Roches Bleues, one can have a look at the only remaining arch of a medieval bridge, the Malassert bridge.
