The origins of this ancient bastide are ancient: traces of settlement dating back to the Lower Paleolithic have been found. The economy of this small rural community in Chalosse is based on agricultural products, notably the direct sale of foie gras, but also on tourism in the region. Its Romanesque church, Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, topped by a bell tower with loopholes, houses a remarkable Renaissance-style altar. However, it was badly damaged during the Wars of Religion. Other noteworthy buildings include the small arena and the Château de Beyrie, built in the 18th century.
