This small commune is home to around a hundred inhabitants, known as Arthéziens. It lies in the eastern part of the Landes département, close to the Gers département. It is home to the bastide town of Arthez, founded by a deed of paréage between Jeanne d'Artois, widow of Gaston de Foix, and Arnaud d'Ognoas in 1320. The Ognoas departmental estate distills some five hundred hectolitres of armagnac every year. We recommend a visit to the building, which dates back to 1260. Other curiosities include a 19th-century mill and the remains of the Templar manor house at Tampouy, which dates back to the 14th century.
