Boussac is a town of 1,500 inhabitants that once belonged to the historic region of La Marche, situated between the ancient regions of Berry and Limousin. What was then described as "la marche de la Marche" owes its reputation to its impressive château, built in the 15th century and remodeled in the 16th and 17th centuries. The past of this ancient stronghold is rich in history. Just stroll through the picturesque little streets and admire the houses with their turrets, spiral staircases and numerous wrought-iron balconies. George Sand set part of the action of her novel Jeanne (1844) at the château.
