Azerables is located in the north-west of the department, about 15 km from La Souterraine. The territory of the commune is marked by the presence of the Etang de la Chaume. Mentioned as early as 1675, it has the peculiarity of resting entirely on sand, which allows a good development of fish. Thanks to a continuous flow of water, it never silts up. Installed on its north bank, an ornithological observatory is open all year round. There are 127 species of birds nesting or passing through (grey heron, harrier, yellow bunting...) and nationally protected aquatic plants.
