If the commune of Auzances is not big by its size, it is big by its history! Seat of a Gallo-Roman villa, land of crafts, artists' reservoir, it is a complex city that deserves to be visited. Close to its pond, the site of Coux presents important vestiges of a Gallo-Roman villa, they allow you to project yourself into what must have been the daily life of the time. Another surprise awaits the curious inside the church of Saint-Jacques, in the centre of the village. In 1965, the Russian artist Nicolas Greschny represented scenes from the life of Christ in a style that was totally original for the region: frescoes of Byzantine inspiration. Finally, walkers will be tempted to climb up to admire the ancient fortifications of old Auzances and discover the panorama over the valley of the Noisette, a river that was for a long time dotted with mills dedicated to the work of skins.
