Tarnac is a village located in Upper Corrèze, just over ten kilometres north of Bugeat. The territory has inhabited approximately since the first century BC, proof of the 27 funerary mounds identified on a ridge line from Puy Besseau to the South and up to the Grand-fields in the north. In the centre of this small and quiet village of 350 souls, you can find the oldest church of the Plateau plateau, dating from the th century and hosting a Gallo-Roman sculpture of the Lion of Theillet. The Saint Georges Fountain is still there to refresh the feet of the hikers, in this medium mountain landscape, at 715 meters altitude, at the gates of Haute-Vienne, where it is good to walk in the forests of Douglas and feel about the 40 kilometres of forest paths, in the autumn, the smell characteristic of the sous containing the abundance of ceps. Good wishes from Lady Nature!
