Thuir is the capital of the Aspres. This ancient fortified medieval town, the birthplace of the famous Byrrh aperitif, is known for its impressive oak thunderbolt. Narrow streets and squares shaded by large plane trees will lead you to the Cellera, the founding district of Thuir, built around the present-day church of Notre-Dame de la Victoire. The walk will allow you to admire numerous ramparts, medieval gates and watchtowers. The chapels of Saint-Sébastien and Piéta surrounded by olive trees are a photographer's delight, as is the wild Canigó foothills, rich in sites, Romanesque art monuments and quality wine production
