Soussans, a small commune on the Gironde estuary, faces the neighbouring Charente-Maritime. It is located a little more than 30 kilometres from Bordeaux. You can admire the remains of the castle of the Tower of Mons. The history of the château is closely linked to the history of vine growing in this area, and this has been the case since the 17th century with the work of Pierre de Mons to develop the local vineyard and the work of this clay-limestone soil which is so suitable for vines. The current owners of the château (the Perrodo family) cultivate 58 hectares of vines and produce Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc.
