4 km south of Elne, Palau-del-Vidre is a typical Catalan village famous for its glassblowers. This practice dates back to the Middle Ages and continued until the 16th century. Today, glass is once again very present in the village, with several glass artists who have invested workshops in the town hall and the Fort district. Every summer at the beginning of August, the International Festival of Glass Arts pays tribute to this age-old craft. Demonstrations, exhibitions and conferences animate the village. Palau also has a developed lake, Lake Sant Marti, which is a delight for fishermen and walkers
