Ille-sur-Têt is a small flowery town of 5,000 inhabitants 25 km west of Perpignan, on the road to Le Conflent, accessible by motorway in less than 20 minutes. Located at the crossroads of four countries, the Fenouillèdes, the Conflent, the Aspres and the Roussillon plain, the plain of Ille-sur-Têt is famous for the quality and flavour of its peaches, nectarines and other sun-drenched apricots. The town and its surroundings abound with sites of great interest, often little known, except for the internationally renowned organs of Ille. Note the summer night market which gives pride of place to local craftsmen and artists.
