A few figures to tell the story of Saumos: the small, peaceful commune has about 540 inhabitants. It has 854 hectares of communal forest and covers about 54 km2. Its average altitude is 30 m. Its inhabitants are called Saumossois and Saumossoises. The old railway line, converted into a cycle path, which connects Bordeaux to Lacanau passes through Saumos. It will take you through the forest. Near the old station: a playground and a picnic area before taking the road. You will reach Lacanau in only 11 km by pedal and thus reach its lake and of course the ocean.
