The village is hidden in the beech and pine trees on a granite plateau, not far from the Mercoire forest, at an altitude of 1,000 meters. The old church, well preserved, belonged to the parish founded by the ladies of Mercoire, who collected the tithe there. One can admire the beautiful semicircular portal and inside two capitals sculpted with naïve heads. Saint-Flour-de-Mercoire is also sadly famous: it is there that the Beast of Gévaudan found its first victims in 1764. The commune is crossed by the "sentier des Fées", a path marked out by a dozen panels, which allow you to discover the richness of the forest environment.
