An astonishing site at the confluence of the 3 valleys of the Borne, Altier and Chassezac, the commune brings together several old municipalities of these valleys, mostly deserted. The hamlets cling to the steep slopes on several levels. In Planchamp, birthplace of the Barrot family since the 14th century, the Madeleine chapel dominates the Borne valley and houses the heart of Odilon Barrot, leader of the reformist left and minister under Louis Napoleon. The 19th century castle, in neo-Renaissance style (restored by his nephew) seems quite unusual in this country where peasant architecture dominates. In Saint-Jean-Chazorne, one can see the small church of Saint-Jean.
