LOZÈRE VAN
Read moreLydia and Benoît are used to road-trips in van. This passion is at the origin of the creation of their company, Lozère Van, through which they share this way of life and their tricks to live the great adventure in nature. With four seats and four beds, their vehicle, a California, has a fully equipped kitchen and is rented with all the camping equipment: tables, chairs and awning. Lydia and Benoît Aubrac also offer turnkey tours to discover the vastness of the Lozere landscapes: from the Margeride to the Cevennes.
EN CAMPING-CAR
Read moreLozère is particularly well-suited to motorhome holidays. In fact, the departmental tourism committee has designed a brochure entirely dedicated to this means of travel. We strongly recommend that you read "Escapades en van et camping-car" before arriving in the département. In it, you'll find all the reception and service areas, as well as serviced campsites, which offer spaces adapted to this type of vehicle. Stopover villages located close to major roads are also listed.
EN VOITURE
Read moreIn the center of the Toulouse/Clermont-Ferrand/Montpellier triangle, Lozère is accessible by road. It is crossed from one side to the other by the A75 freeway, which links the Auvergne to the Hérault department. The N88 which connects Toulouse to Lyon, as well as the N106 which runs from Mende to Nîmes, are also gateways to the territory. Cars, motorcycles and camping-cars - in short, anything that rolls - are indeed the preferred means of transportation in a department where trains are rare and planes non-existent.
GARE DE MENDE
Read moreTravelers coming from Nîmes, Clermont-Ferrand or Le Puy-en-Velay usually disembark in Lozère at the Mende train station, one of the most important in the area. There is a waiting area open from Monday to Thursday, as well as on public holidays; and a food distributor to stock up on drinks and snacks before each trip. The trips are mainly made by bus and also allow to travel within the department, towards Marvejols or further east towards La Bastide-Puylaurent in particular.
