In the center of the Toulouse/Clermont-Ferrand/Montpellier triangle, Lozère is accessible by road. It is crossed from one side to the other by the A75 freeway, which links the Auvergne to the Hérault department. The N88 which connects Toulouse to Lyon, as well as the N106 which runs from Mende to Nîmes, are also gateways to the territory. Cars, motorcycles and camping-cars - in short, anything that rolls - are indeed the preferred means of transportation in a department where trains are rare and planes non-existent.
