At the cirque des Baumes, the Tarn takes a north-south orientation. The village of Les Vignes is located in this part of the gorge where the valley widens somewhat. The parish once had its seat in Saint-Préjet, as evidenced by a simple Romanesque church, with its one-bay bell tower and which contains a Renaissance fresco, discovered in 1910: the Apotheosis of Saint Préjet. Further south, as you go up the causse, the road passes the ruins of the castle of Blanquefort, an eagle's nest which guarded the valley. In July and August, the tourist office Gorges du Tarn, Causse de Sauveterre opens an information point in the old bread oven
