Saint-Bonnet is separated from the Haute-Loire by the Allier. A small hamlet hanging over the Chapeauroux, the road that leads there winds in a forest that is rocked by storms, along the deep gorges of the river which sometimes widen; It ends in Chapeauroux on the other shore. There, an imposing half-circle viaduct spans this great basalt and granite circus. A Saint-Bonnet, an ancient tower dominates the road, backed by ancient constructions. The village church was built between the th and th centuries. By continuing to Chapeauroux, there is a narrow diversion channel along the road that leads water from the river to the buildings of an old mine.
