The village of Arzenc borders the Chapeauroux, which has its source at the Col de l'Ane, a little higher up. Its name could have been given to it by the Benedictine monks who built the church in the 12th century. The word of Arzenc would come from the pre-Latin word Arisa, which means river and the suffix Inco which means place, place. Arzenc would thus mean place of the river. The inhabitants of the parish completed the restoration of the church between 1980 and 1982 and restored its Auvergne Romanesque style. In the surroundings, many wrought iron or stone crosses dot the paths, a small hike available at the tourist office is dedicated to them.
