The name of this small village comes from the Latin vacca, meaning "the place where cows are raised", which testifies to the importance of agriculture and livestock breeding in these lands over thousands of years. Dominated by its windmill from the beginning of the century, the village has long lived from the cultivation of vines and glass work. A dynasty of glass-making gentlemen operated a glassworks there from the 13th to the 17th century.
