Tourbes stretches a few minutes from Pézenas, on hills coloured by vines and pine forests. The history of these two towns will be linked for a long time, as a consequence of their joint purchase by Saint-Louis in 1261, a link that will lead the town to a certain prosperity. In the heart of its alleys, you will have the opportunity to contemplate a multitude of houses from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, as well as the impressive Saint-Saturnin church (14th and 17th centuries). These vestiges contain decorative elements very representative of their times, particularly in the Southern Gothic style. In the place of the old moats, bourgeois houses were built in the 19th century following the expansion of wine-growing activity, a sector which still makes the wealth of Tourbes and the surrounding villages. Finally, if you are in a sporting mood, take the time to climb the hill to the chapel of Saint-Roch, you will be rewarded by its magnificent panorama.
