Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle is a beautiful commune with very ancient origins. Indeed, the first traces of occupation of this site date back to prehistoric times. In the 12th century, a fortified church was built on the banks of the Isle, but it was destroyed. It was rebuilt in the 17th century. All that remains of the Roman construction is the apse and the north façade. In the 18th century, several mills were in operation in the commune. From the second half of the 19th century onwards, the commune took an industrial turn with several factories. Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle boasts a pleasant leisure park with over three hectares of water, ideal for water sports, as well as a white sandy beach and lawns. Saint-Seurin boasts an exceptional natural heritage, as witnessed by the Aubarède nature reserve. Its historical heritage is just as interesting. Points of interest include the locks, the Donadier barn and the presbytery. Between nature and history, Saint-Seurin-sur-l'Isle is well worth a visit. It's also the location of a Greenwich crossroads: the 0 meridian and the 45th parallel north. It is marked by a dot on the road towards Puynormand. There's a lot to discover when you visit this little commune in Gironde.
